Super Learning Day: An Inspiring Celebration of Opportunity, Aspiration and Real-World Learning
On Wednesday 28th January 2026, our Academy proudly hosted a truly memorable Super Learning Day – an enriching and inspiring experience that brought learning to life for pupils across all year groups. The day was designed to broaden horizons, raise aspirations and provide meaningful, real-world learning opportunities beyond the classroom. Thanks to the outstanding commitment of staff, external partners and visiting professionals, the event was an overwhelming success.
Throughout the day, pupils participated in a carefully planned programme of workshops, talks and interactive sessions, rotating through activities tailored to their year group. The aim was simple but powerful: to expose pupils to a wide range of careers, life skills and social issues, while developing confidence, curiosity and ambition.
Year 7 pupils began their Super Learning Day with energy and enthusiasm, taking part in a range of engaging and hands-on experiences. A highlight of the day was the STEM Challenge delivered by the Royal Navy, which encouraged pupils to work collaboratively, think creatively and apply problem-solving skills in real-world scenarios. Pupils were also thrilled to take part in a large-scale tower-building challenge led by Willmott Dixon, where teamwork, communication and resilience were key to success. In addition, pupils benefited from an insightful session with Channel 4, offering a fascinating glimpse into careers within the media industry. A practical First Aid session equipped pupils with essential life skills, while the ever-popular Dogs in the Police Force workshop captivated pupils as they learned about the vital role of service animals in policing and community safety.
Year 8 pupils enjoyed a full Science Forensics Workshop Day, immersing themselves in hands-on investigative activities. Pupils explored forensic techniques, evidence analysis and scientific reasoning, developing both their analytical thinking and their appreciation of how science is applied in real careers. The session sparked curiosity and excitement, with many pupils expressing a newfound interest in forensic science and STEM-related pathways.
For Year 9, the focus was firmly on safety, responsibility and informed decision-making.
