Safeguarding

Trust Lead for Safeguarding:         Nicola Kenyon

Safeguarding Trustee:                     Ann Lloyd

Safeguarding is the proactive stance, which aims to protect children from abuse or harm, and child protection is the reactive stance taken to support pupils whom the school suspects may be in need of protection.

Safeguarding Statement

University of Lincoln Academy Trust (UoLAT) is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share in this commitment creating a positive culture of safeguarding.

Every pupil should be able to participate in all academy activities in an enjoyable and safe environment and be protected from harm in each of our schools. This is the responsibility of every adult employed by or invited to deliver services at or to the academy. We recognise our responsibility to safeguard and promote the welfare of all our pupils by protecting them from harm and educating them on how to stay safe. Safeguarding and child protection are at the forefront, and underpin all relevant aspects of our process and policy development, to ensure that we operate in the best interests of the child.

All staff have appropriate training so that they understand their roles and responsibilities and are confident about carrying them out. At UoLAT we have a large safeguarding team who are trained to support children and families with any concern and will work with a wide variety of agencies to support all children.

Our family of schools operates a child-centred approach to understand of the needs and views of children. We recognise the importance of enabling children to talk openly about anything that worries them. Every member of staff has a collective recognition of the importance of providing an environment that helps children feel safe and respected, and a culture that encourages children to talk to a trusted adult, and have the confidence they will be listened to, or access well publicised systems for reporting or disclosing abuse or harm.

We have a number of policies and procedures in place that contribute to our safeguarding commitment (please click the button below labelled ‘Trust Policies’).
